"Then Jesus declared, 'I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.'" John 6:35
A chunk of chewy bread with a steaming bowl of soup. Bread that reminds you of something eaten around your grandmother's table. Thick slabs of fresh, home-made bread spread with melting butter. These "favorite things" may sound like the key to happiness and calm on a stressful or frustrating day. Yet no matter how calming the affect of a memory from the past, no matter how delighted the tastebuds, the problems and pains of life remain after the slice, or loaf, has been devoured. No sense-based experience will drive them away. You will feel hungry in a little while. Your stress level will rise once again. The racing thoughts will return.
I encourage you to enjoy the good things God has given us - including bread. But I also encourage you to find your complete happiness, rejuvination, and life in the "Bread of Life."
I am a child of God and daughter to Dad + Mom, sister to Maren + Jason and Hannah, aunt to Joseph, Evangeline + Isaac, and niece to Dorothy (now with Jesus and free from Down's). After eight years as professional baker, I am currently a stay-at-home daughter/sister, overcoming chronic illness, professional and just-for-fun knitter and admirer of all things true, beautiful, delicious, watercolor and woolen. Come and see God's faithfulness that reaches to the skies!
